JOHN V. VAN GEMERT, M. D.

Dr. Van Gemert received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. After completing an internship at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane he was stationed in West Germany with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Dr. Van Gemert completed an ophthalmology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, which included experience at the

International Eye Foundation in Lima, Peru. He served as a clinical instructor and staff member at Brooke Army Medical Center and completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Van Gemert joined the Spokane Eye Clinic in 1980. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the AMA and the Washington Academy of Ophthalmology. He has published articles and presented various papers dealing with reconstructive eye surgery.
